Calvinist and Enlightenment Impact on Law

The Calvinist and Enlightenment views of human nature, through their similarities and differences, form two distinct ideas of the law. Both Calvinists and Enlightenment thinkers see humans as flawed beings capable of corruption. Calvinist theologian, Jonathan Edwards, references a biblical verse in Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God that says, “their foot shall slide in due time.”
